I used to go to events like this all of the time! The pandemic has definitely changed that. I was also recently diagnosed with a very serious, debilitating, and lifelong condition that has rendered me unable to walk, so that has obviously limited things, too.
It has been a very long and painful road, but I’m finally starting to be able to get around a little bit. This would be such a lovely introduction back into the food scene and event season. And I’m a Portland native – just right down the street from Leftbank! – and take immense enjoyment in learning about and supporting local businesses.
The last 2.5 years has hit the disabled/high-risk/immunocompromised the hardest…our lives have been pretty miserable. This would certainly be a beacon of light, and joy!

I know these food tastin events are hugely popular, no doubt in my mind the idea was born from parent events such as the “Bite Of Oregon.”I really enjoyed The Bite or later, morphed into “A Taste of Portland.” There is or was “A Taste of Beaverton.” It is where I first tasted alligator on a stick.I wonder if there are food tasting events like this on cruise ships? I have been to buffets and love a variety so does this event sound scrumptious, cheeses like smoked gouda are my favorites so yes, id love to see how this compares to the now sadly defunct “Taste of Portland.” I would absolutely give my food favorite choices! OMG!!! I mentioned this to my wine and cheese loving boyfriend and his immediate response was “YES.” We were supposed to go to a football game in Salem, but we’re probably going to skip out on that in lieu of the Cheese and Meat Festival. (When I say wine and cheese loving boyfriend, you’d think he was from France and not Irish roots… and this man recently spent $100 on cheese alone at the Costco… I think he eats at least 8oz of cheese a day… when I took him to the Melting Pot on one of our first dates, we skipped the dessert course and got a second cheese course… it’s not a joke.)
