Time travel to 1894 and visit an exquisitely decorated manor house, a beautiful English garden, and a bachelor’s English flat in our immersive Oscar Wilde classic.
Experience Theatre Project’s 2023-2024 Season continues with a top-notch immersive production of Oscar Wilde’s endlessly entertaining comedy, The Importance of Being Earnest. ETP’s Artistic Director Alisa Stewart directs this timeless world classic, an unmissable opportunity to see what the London Telegraph has called “the most perfect comedy in the English language.”
Oscar Wilde’s wildly entertaining comedy sparkles with dazzling wordplay and hilariously unlikely situations. This “trivial comedy for serious people” features two carefree bachelors, Jack and Algernon, each with a carefully hidden double life. But when Algernon discovers that Jack has been posing as a man named Ernest to escape to the city, he promptly travels to Jack’s country estate to pose as the fictional figure himself! Silliness ensues with whimsical ingénues, jealous fiancées, indomitable dowagers, and the most famous handbag in theatre history.
This immersive production will lead audiences from a London flat to a country garden, and then into a manor house. Actors will perform only a matter of feet away from the audience. As the audience sits inside of the spaces that are created, there will be no bad seat in the house.
The cast features Nick Medina (Algernon Moncrieff), Brave Sohaki (John “Jack” Worthing), Kate Herrell (Gwendolen Fairfax), Ella Noel (Cecily Cardew), Saren Nofs Snyder (Lady Bracknell), Samm Hill (Rev. Canon Chasuble), Ruth Jenkins (Miss Prism), and Laurence Cox (Lane/Merriman).
“Immersive adaptations of the classics have always been an important part of Experience Theatre Project’s work, and this hilarious production of The Importance of Being Earnest will continue this theatre’s mission to bring innovative and immersive arts to the forefront,” says Artistic and Production Director Alisa Stewart. “I am delighted to add that extra immersive thrill to this extraordinarily witty play, and the high class actors and designers promise a beguiling and wild night of Wilde.”

I love this play! My friend and I watch a version of it annually, this would be a great new experience!
Amazing attending this live event. Please count me in!
It’s hard choosing the wittiest statement..so, I’ll try this straight from Lady Bracknell: “To lose one parent, Mr. Worthing, may be regarded as a misfortune; to lose both looks like carelessness.”
In all earnestness, I think Experience Theatre Project is an incredibly unique company and it would be wonderful to experience this comedy during the doldrums of winter. It’s sure to be a Wilde time for all in attendance!

Now that Beaverton has completely thawed out and the power/internet is fully restored, I’m itchin’ to get out of the house and do something fun. This play done in this immersive style would completely scratch that cabin fever itch!
