Considering Everclear has written and recorded some truly iconic ’90s alt-rock hits, it would be all too easy these days for the band to be a victim of its past successes, relegated to performing as a glorified jukebox, existing to satisfy the nostalgic cravings of Gen Xers everywhere. But singer-guitarist Art Alexakis isn’t about to start phoning it in now.
Everclear continues to tour extensively, and while it’s a virtual surety that no Everclear gig is complete without a rendition of “Santa Monica” and “Father of Mine,” lately the band has found that exploring the full range of past material-especially the “deep cuts”-not only gives fans a rare treat, it also injects new life into the band’s live dynamic.
“By mixing it up and digging into the catalogue, it still makes it fun and relevant for us, and I think for the fans as well,” says Alexakis. “It’s still important to play the hits, but by playing those other songs as well, it makes it all seem more vibrant and real. Even though I recorded some of those songs 20 years ago, I haven’t played them in a long time, so it’s like reinventing the wheel. I’m having more fun now than I have in years. I think all of us are.”
Formed by Alexakis in 1991 in Portland, Oregon, Everclear has enjoyed a lengthy career spanning 11 studio releases, numerous videos, thousands of shows and accolades that include a 1998 Grammy nomination. Like a true survivor, Alexakis has soldiered on through multiple lineup changes over the years: During the “classic” era, the band also included Craig Montoya on Bass and Greg Eklund on drums; the current touring lineup features longtime members Davey French (guitar) and Freddy Herrera (bass), as well as drummer Brian Nolan (also with American Hi-Fi), who has performed with Everclear on multiple past tours.
I would love to see Everclear in concert. I promise my friend and I will be right up front rocking out to “Heroin Girl”
I would love the opportunity to see them live.
this would be a very awesome gig…especially since Sponge is one of my personal favorite bands and very underrated!
Art Alexakis and Everclear have always had a special place in my heart as a weird, lonely kid growing up in suburban West Coast. As a survivor of childhood abuse, songs like “Father of Mine” and “You” resonated deeply with me. It helped me to know that I wasn’t alone and helped a young me process a grief and pain I couldn’t fully understand or put into words. It helped me get to a much better place right now as healthy, functional adult. Art’s journey has also helped me process life as I deal with new struggles as an adult. I’ve been really inspired by his own authentic and vulnerable discussions about his MS. My mother is currently struggling with her own neurodegenerative illness and it’s taken a lot of courage and processing to face each day bravely and openly and I’m grateful to artists like Alexakis who show the world that life does not end with disability, but new chapters often begin.
It’s Everclear and Sponge enough said!
Birthday weekend! I would love this.
Love Everclear! Grew up listening to them & would love to share such an incredible experience with my now young adult son after a particularly rough year.
I haven’t seen them since the late 90s, so this would be a nice trip down memory lane😁
I WOULD LOVE TO SEE THEM NOW ! Yes, Please. What Great Music
This would be such an awesome concert to see!!! Sponge is still one of my favorite bands from the 90’s. Fingers crossed.
Haven’t seen them ever, would love to go!
Would make great anniversary present!
Love 90s rock.
Everclear and Sponge enough said!
Would love to go check them out.
My birthday week! Would love to see Everclear again and see Sponge for the first time ❤️
Nothing like seeing Art and Co. at a hometown show!
Would love to take the love of my life and both sing wonderful together!
I grew up listening to Everclear. My dad got me the CD when I was a young teenager. And it got me through the hardest of times with his cancer. I’ll never stop loving everclear And singing their songs even though I’m a grown woman now and my dad passed when I was 20… I’ll always save the cracked CD case from when my dad walked me to the store to get it. No band has ever been precious the same way. I would watch the music videos on repeat! Find comfort in Greek last names being the only Greek girl around lol. I really personalized it when I was younger but now it’s just really nostalgic. I would love to see them again. It’s been years ♥️ I still have a lot of saved pictures but my wall is definitely missing posters.
EvercleaR iN PDX 🎙 💛🖤
I saw Everclear at a small bar on Belmont back when they first started out. I always remembered the great song they played called “Nervous & Weird” which then came out on their first CD. I would love to see them again all these years later at the legendary Crystal Ballroom.
They were amazing and chartered a plane to do rock the vote events on campuses all over Oregon. I had the chance to meet them since I was in student government at the time. It would be such a fabulous opportunity to see them again!
I’d love to relive the 90’s!!
Big black boots and an old suit case.
This would be an amazing night out! Love Everclear!
I would love to win tix to this show because I’m a guy that likes winning free shows – it’s kinda my thing!
I moved here in the early 90s, and this band was pretty hot in those days. Flash forward 30 years…I would enjoy going down memory lane with Everclear!
I listened to Everclear back in the 90’s almost everyday. I actually burnt through 4 CD’s of So Much For The Afterglow, as well as 2 Boom Boxes and 3 Sony Discman’s! !!!!!!
I will be 56 on Thanksgiving Day and still listen to Everclear almost daily. I would love to win tickets to see them perform–Live….and in Portland on top of it!!!! I have always wanted to visit Portland and this would be the trip of a lifetime,( did I mention I am from Iowa?) Pick Me, Pick Me, Please & Thank You!!!
I have not seen Everclear since they played a Radio station event in Estacada back in the 90s. The smell from a nearby garbage dump made it a bit nasty but getting to see them at The Crystal Ballroom would be a much better venue to see them at for sure plus a pre show visit to Lola’s Room is a must
How very cool, have been listening to them for two decades!
Everclear?! A blast from the past. Would love to be taken back to the 90’s with them!
Sounds like a great show to bring me back to the 90’s!
Such a great PNW band! Can’t wait to see them at the ol’ Crystal!
This would be an amazing event and show !! Nationally known local band back in town 🥳 a dream show. A great date night
Outstanding band! I just moved back and would be thrilled to see everlasting Everclear.
Would love to see them. I would practice on my electric bass to some of their songs as a teen.
90’s nostalgia, please!
This would be the best 40 birthday gift!
“…way up in the West Hills…” Everclear is from PDX! If I win these tickets, I will wear my 90s kit from college: light and loose Levi’s, Phish concert t-shirt, L.L. Bean backpack, Nalgene bottle, Tevas with wooly socks, white college baseball cap…
My inner 15-year old is screaming for these tickets!!!!!!!
90s kid reunion right here, this should be a blast show! Would love to be chosen
sure to enjoy this!
I would love to see Sponge live. Talk about a throwback!

This concert is on my son’s birthday, I would love to take him, he grew up listening to Everclear, he’s now a professional Billboard charting drummer. This would be a great father and son birthday celebration. I would love to win tickets.
