The Portland Gay Men’s Chorus presents “Go On and Love.” True love has action behind it: love is a verb. Centered on Joel Thompson’s compelling choral masterpiece, “Seven Last Words of the Unarmed,” this powerful concert reminds us of the importance and urgency of PGMC’s mission, “to honor and uplift the worth of all people.” We understand how our collective liberation is tied together, and the Portland Gay Men’s Chorus sings in solidarity with all oppressed peoples. “Go on and Love” will deliberately challenge our chorus and audience alike, by examining the world around us, acknowledging systemic violence and oppression–especially against people of color–and asking how we can truly respond in love: with action. Featuring three world-premiere compositions sung by a historically robust Chorus of 140+ singers. Performed in partnership with Don’t Shoot PDX, an arts and education organization that promotes social justice and civic participation who’s programming advocates for community members facing racism and discrimination.

Playing for one-day-only, Sunday, March 24 at 4pm at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall. Get tickets at tickets.pdxgmc.org.
