Over a dozen local floral artists will turn Portland’s Lan Su Chinese Garden into a chrysanthemum wonderland during Nights of the Golden Flower, November 3rd, 4th, and 5th.

A dazzling evening event kicking off November’s Chrysanthemum Festival, Nights of the Golden Flower will feature large-scale illuminated floral art pieces as part of a juried floral design showcase and competition. Headlined by renowned floral artist Donald Yim, ticketed patrons will be treated to a weekend of floral design demonstrations, extravagant floral art displays, and live music. Event participants are encouraged to grab a hot chrysanthemum tea, wander past two hundred glowing waterlilies floating on Lake Zither, and take in the nighttime scene.

In traditional Chinese culture, the Chrysanthemum is considered one of the “four gentlemen” of plants (along with plum blossoms, orchids, and bamboo) and a symbol of autumn and perseverance.
