As a sign of appreciation for all essential workers (health care, first responders, grocery, service stations, truckers and more) who are keeping our society functioning, we invite you to make some noise!

Our neighbors to the north in Vancouver BC started a nightly observance with noise for essential workers and Keep Portland Cool believes we can do it here!

It’s very simple, Friday night at 7 PM go outside and make some noise for 30 seconds.

Here are some suggestions for making noise

  • Whistle, hoot or holler
  • Clap your hands
  • Bang a drum, pot or pan
  • Play an instrument
  • Set off your car alarm
  • Honk your horn
  • Wind up one of those sirens

See this video that shows how this works in Vancouver BC.

Invite your friends, family, neighbors, and random social media connections. Let’s make so much noise that essential workers hear our thanks in their hospitals, stores, homes and on the road!

This is also a reminder that none of us are alone and that we will get through this by staying united.
