‘Take Out Tour’

The Foster Area Business Association had to cancel its annual Tasting Tour event due to COVID-19 quarantine and business closures. Instead, the association is leveraging a grant from Venture Portland to put money directly into the hands of its members and encourage customers to support their local businesses.

“We wanted to find a way to support businesses that have suffered financial losses during the shutdown,” said Allen Rowand, owner of Gray Dog Digital and Foster Area Business Association President. “We also wanted to get people shopping locally again, and this contest does both. We’re putting over $2000 directly into the hands of businesses by buying gift cards, then distributing those gift cards as prizes to shoppers. We felt it was important to allow people to shop however they’re comfortable, so we’ll accept take out, delivery, curbside pickup. The important thing is to support the businesses that help make Foster a great place to live and shop.”

Take Out Tour: How It Works Customers make a purchase from any Foster district business, then post a photo of the purchase to Instagram by tagging and following @fosterareapdx and using the hashtag #fostertakeouttour.
