By popular demand, Weird Portland United (WPU), Portland’s only nonprofit dedicated to keeping things weird, is bringing back the much lauded Weird Portland Gala, for just the second time ever, on November 3rd, 2023.

This year’s event will take place from 7:30-11pm at Rainbow City (301 NW 4th Ave), Portland’s self-described Art-Music-Cultural-Experience-Temple-Space. Rainbow City, with its DayGlo drenched aesthetic is the perfect backdrop for this year’s theme, ‘Portland in the 80’s’. In keeping with the theme, performing at the gala will be two of Portland’s hottest big hair and synth acts, The Nu Wavers and Ursabomb. Rounding out the night will be Katie Jane’s Celtic Light Orchestra, the world’s only light up orchestra with patented instruments! Debuting at the gala will be the world premiere of ‘We Are So Weird’, an original song and music video performed by a supergroup of Portland’s weirdest, in the style of 1985’s ‘We Are The World’. Other entertainment includes live art, tarot readings, Caesar the No Drama Llama and so much more!

Also at this year’s gala, Gigantic Brewing will be on hand to announce the next beer in the WPU Weirdtastic collaboration series and provide an exclusive first taste to attendees! Guests can also expect the reveal of the 2023 Weird Portland Hall of Fame inductees.

Tickets to the 2019 gala sold out, so those interested in attending this year are encouraged to buy early from the official Eventbrite site or Facebook page. In addition to general admission tickets at $45, a very limited number of VIP tickets are on sale for $250, which include early admission, a special immersive experience, a weird celebrity meet and greet, special food and drink, and more. Costumes are highly encouraged for ALL attendees!
