True West has an excellent reputation in the Portland and Seattle markets for coordinating, producing, and promoting a variety of concerts, music festivals, and events throughout Oregon and Washington. As our company continues to expand and provide services to more locations and events than ever before, we wish to fortify our accounting department to handle our ever-growing operations and revenue streams. The Accounting Assistant will report directly to and work closely with our Controller to execute day to day accounting functions in the areas of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and general company administration. This position will support and be responsible for many bookkeeping functions for activities and events related to our company-owned venue and record store, and will occasionally act as our on-site field administrator for our schedule of outdoor events. True West Accounting Assistant Job Duties
- Accounts Payable functions (AP), including scanning and entering invoices to our cloud-based AP system.
- Accounts Receivable functions (AR), including invoicing clients for fees, recording receipts from various revenue streams, and tracking reimbursable expenses for production, marketing, ticketing, and operations management that will be billed to our various clients.
- Annual 1099 and 1042 form preparation
- Recording both general and event-specific cash and check expenses
- Reconciling various balance sheet accounts
- Assisting with journal entries and month-end closing procedures
- Managing employee expense reports and credit card activity
- Preparing and processing ASCAP/BMI/SESAC quarterly reports
- Occasional on-site support as the production office accounting and administrative contact
- Other comparable duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will
- Be able to demonstrate a solid work history and strong skills in the areas of bookkeeping, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and preparation of journal entries
- Have effective communication skills and the ability to pick up quickly on different types of computer and software applications
- Have the ability to learn and work within multiple different types of business models, as we have several related companies and divisions within the organization
- Be flexible when it comes to seasonally reduced hours – usually intermittently in the late winter and early spring, but subject to change due to business growth
- Have an easy-going personality and a sense of humor
Job Qualifications & Desired Skills:
- Associates Degree in accounting or 2+ years of related experience
- Ability to meet tight deadlines, ensure confidentiality
- Trustworthy and ethical with strong references
- Solid working knowledge using Quickbooks, Microsoft Office (particularly Excel) and Google cloud-based office programs, and the ability to learn new software programs quickly
- Must be able to read, write, and communicate fluently in English
- A pre-employment criminal and credit history check will be required
Compensation and Benefits
- $23-$28 hourly rate, depending on experience
- 50% Employer-paid health and dental insurance
- 2 weeks paid vacation time; increases to 3 weeks after one year

Special Working Conditions: General office environment with remote work flexibility when approved, as well as occasional on-site accounting support in the field. Work within an office setting is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing and walking for up to 15% of the time. Work within an event site setting is mostly confined to the on-site production office, with standing and walking required intermittently up to 50% of the time. Travel: Limited. Must be responsible for personal transportation to and from work and on occasion to our outside event sites in the Portland area. There will be minimal travel between local Company locations on an as-needed basis.
