Job Coach (urgent need)

Website Pacific Opportunities

Pacific Opportunities is an employment services company that provides assistance to individuals who experience a barrier to employment. Typically, that barrier is an intellectual or developmental disability. We help our clients obtain and maintain competitive, integrated employment.

The Job Coach plays an important role by providing one-on-one assistance tailored to the needs of the client. Providing that direct support in their workplace helps them to be successful in their job. The support needs differ depending upon the individual. Job Coaches help to manage a client’s schedule, help them navigate workplace computer systems (to access pay stubs, request time off, etc.), speak with managers ( to advocate for accommodations, check in to get feedback on performance, etc.), attend orientations, help clients learn their job duties, and work with them on-site to perform the tasks of their job.

We are seeking patient, empathetic, objective, and observant individuals to join our growing team in the role of Job Coach. The starting wage is $20.00-24.00 per hour. Benefits include a SIMPLE IRA with 3% match, top of the line medical insurance (75% employer paid), dental insurance, and paid time off (11 holidays and PTO). This role provides a nice foundation for upward mobility for those interested. Job Coaches work autonomously and must have a reliable, insured vehicle.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Provide excellent customer service to all stakeholders. This includes communicating with all involved parties (i.e. clients, employers, coworkers, VR counselors, service coordinators/personal agents, etc.)
  • Be present at coaching sites on time and dressed appropriately
  • Manage a caseload of clients for face-to-face job coaching (Management is defined as the ability to engage with the client’s direct supervisor to coordinate shifts)
  • Once a client is placed, ensure the employer needs are met by utilizing proper job coaching techniques for job retention
  • Connect with employers to ensure long-term success
  • Create client resumes within acceptable time standards
  • Develop training plans for clients
  • Meet with clients to practice typical and targeted interview questions
  • Produce organized, concise, and grammatically correct notes for each client at the end of each workday
  • Additional duties as assigned

Requirements:

We’re seeking someone who is team driven and has the ability to work well with direction from both our client’s supervisors and our own management. We also seek the following:

  • Independent, reliable, and capable of managing a schedule with minimal supervision
  • Patient and understanding to each client’s specific needs/disabilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; English fluency
  • Organizational skills and the ability to maintain records in our online database is a must as this position requires completion of administrative reports and maintenance of client records
  • Established work history (1+ years), preferably in retail, food service, or other customer facing positions
  • Strong interpersonal skills; must interact with and get along with others in the workplace
  • Ability to pass an ODHS background check (disqualifying conditions: https://www.oregon.gov/dhs/BUSINESS- SERVICES/CHC/Documents/HR-PDQ-Convictions-Conditions.pdf)
  • Must have a reliable, insured vehicle; the ability to travel throughout the Portland Metro area; and a valid driver’s license
