The Operations Supervisor will be responsible to supervise and coordinate the activities of staff involved in custodial services and event set-up and tear-down that are essential to providing a memorable experience for our guests and community members, by ensuring that our venues are safe and welcoming.

As the Operations Supervisor you will:

  • Implement appropriate policies, programs and services to ensure effective utilization of resources and regulatory compliance.
  • Model enthusiastic, encouraging, friendly and positive professional behavior while coaching the team to emulate these values as well.
  • Supervise, prioritize, assign and review the work of staff involved in custodial services and the set-up, tear-down and clean-up of events.
  • Provide leadership, training and guidance to Event Custodians,
  • Utility Leads and Utility Maintenance Technicians.
  • Plan, prepare and update employee work schedules in software scheduling program.
  • Assist in establishing documented standard operating procedures for cleaning/maintenance, set-up, and general event support activities.
  • Coordinate activities with other departments to ensure service levels are appropriate and work is performed in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Maintain and manage department supplies and equipment inventory; order supplies, materials and equipment as needed.
  • Provide on-going inspection of building and grounds; identify building needs and initiate corrective action.
  • Actively support and advance the agency’s efforts to promote diversity, equity and inclusion within the workplace to create safe and welcoming spaces for staff, clients and guests.
  • Ensure work is performed in compliance with codes, ordinances, regulations, and other requirements, including but not limited to, OSHA and GBAC (Global Biorisk Advisory Council).
  • Perform and assist with cleaning duties and event set-ups and tear-downs when needed.

  • Intermediate-level proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, with emphasis on Excel, Outlook and Word.
  • Ability to work effectively with a variety of information management systems, including cloud-based work order systems, and adapt quickly to system changes and updates.
  • Proven record of analyzing information and use logic to resolve issues and problems.
  • Outstanding ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with all persons contacted in the course of work.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, drawings and blueprints.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task; must be highly organized and flexible to change course of work/projects as circumstances dictate.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays as needed.

TO QUALIFY

Minimum qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED; AND
    Minimum of three (3) years of experience in commercial operations, facilities, custodial or housekeeping work in a comparable facility; AND
  • Minimum of one(1) year of lead and/or supervisory experience; OR
    We will consider any combination of education and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.
  • Valid driver’s license issued in the state of residence.

Minimum of two (2) years or more of supervisory/lead experience.
Previous lead/supervisory experience in a unionized environment

COMPENSATION AND REPRESENTATION

Based on the Oregon Pay Equity Act requirements, Metro’s internal equity review process, and the candidates’ qualifications, the appointment will typically be made between $64,057.00 to the equity range $74,181.00. The full-salary range for this position is $64,057.00 – $87,138.00 annually.
