Summary

The IT Manager is a key leadership role within the Information Technology department of Crook County.

Reporting directly to the Chief Information Officer, the IT Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations of the IT infrastructure, ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of technology. services to various departments within the county.

Essential Job Functions

1. Strategic Planning:

• Collaborate with the CIO in developing and implementing IT strategies aligned with the overall goals and objectives of the county.

• Provide input into the development of IT policies, procedures, and standards.

2. Team Leadership:

• Lead and manage a team of System Administrators and HelpDesk staff.

• Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment.

• Conduct performance reviews and provide professional development opportunities for team members.

3. Infrastructure Management:

• Oversee the maintenance and optimization of the IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and systems.

• Ensure the security and integrity of data, applications, and systems.

4. Project Management:

• Manage IT projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.

• Coordinate with various departments to understand their technology needs and implement solutions accordingly.

5. Vendor Management:

• Collaborate with vendors to procure hardware, software, and services.

• Evaluate vendor performance and negotiate contracts to ensure cost-effectiveness.

6. User Support and HelpDesk:

• Oversee the HelpDesk function, ensuring timely resolution of user issues and inquiries.

• Establish and maintain effective communication channels with end-users.

7. Policy Compliance:

• Ensure compliance with IT policies, standards, and regulations.

• Implement security measures to safeguard sensitive information.

8. Budget Oversight:

• Collaborate with the CIO in the development and management of the IT budget.

• Monitor expenditures and recommend cost-saving measures.

• Proven experience in IT management, with a focus on local government operations.

• Strong leadership and team management skills.

• Excellent project management and organizational abilities.

• In-depth knowledge of IT infrastructure, systems, and security.

• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

• Familiarity with relevant regulations and compliance standards.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

• Onsite – Full Time M-F.

Travel

• Occasional travel may be required.

Required Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field.

• Able to complete a thorough employment and/or criminal history check.

• Able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug test (not required for all positions).

• Final candidates will be required to provide official proof of college degree and certified transcripts (not required for all positions).
