Yonkers-bred rap trio The LOX notched a string of memorable hits during the ’90s Bad Boy era of hip-hop.
- In high school, rappers Sheek Louch, Styles P, and Jadakiss formed a group called The Bomb Squad and began performing at local shows and producing homemade demos.
- They were discovered by fellow Yonkers native Mary J. Blige. She introduced them to Puff Daddy (now Diddy), who signed them to Bad Boy Records and changed their name to The LOX.
- In 1997, The LOX had their breakout moment on Puff Daddy’s No. 2 smash “All About the Benjamins.” They also appeared alongside Mase on Mariah Carey’s “Honey (Bad Boy Remix).”
- The LOX kept the momentum going with their platinum-selling 1998 debut album, Money, Power & Respect, which features their Notorious B.I.G. tribute “We’ll Always Love Big Poppa.”
- The group then signed to Ruff Ryders Entertainment and released their gold-certified We Are the Streets in 2000 before taking an extended hiatus.
- In 2016, they returned with their third album, Filthy America…It’s Beautiful, which cracked the Top 10 of Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.
Need that Money, Power, Respect!
I love this group, I need these tickets to see this trio from my youth!
Would love to catch Styles, Jada and Sheek again. Money, Power, Respect!
Styles Sheek and Jada!!! Ruff Ryderss! ‘We gon’ make it’ to this show one way or another, bring on the tickets!
Need to see this! Living legends!
NO WAY! I LOVE Jadakiss and the LOX. I’m from the East Coast and I had their cds growing up and even got a Jadakiss album while I was in the hospital for a dislocated shoulder and broken collar bone. Man, this would be AMAZING! I promise-promise I know the words to almost every song and I would have a blast seeing them do their thing. Sheek Louch, Jadakiss and my man Styles P.
I’ve loved me some Jada forever, even if he doesn’t eat the swine.
I’m writing this while I’m at work AND covering someone which means I only have a 25 mins break. Point being: I WOULD LOVE THESE TICKETS! My boyfriend is a huge hip-hop fan and LOVES east coast rap so much! I have no idea what to expect (I’ve never seen a hip-hop show before) but I know I’d get down and boogie hard <3 <3 <3 <3
Yoooooo, I grew up listening to them! Let me win these! =)
I grew up listening to this! such great music
This would be so much old school fun!!! Lovew some LOX!…..hiphop shows @ the Crystal are Always bumpin!
Taking my 27 year old Daughter for my birthday. Pick me!! Blast from the past. ;)p $$$$$$
I love the LOX and my girlfriend is from Brooklyn and is their biggest fan in the world. Please let me surprise her with these!
Omg!! I am a super Lox fan and have been for years!!! I would have bought tickets, but have already booked a Florida trip 3 weeks before this to assist my son finding a new apartment near his college and I won’t have the funds left to purchase. I am absolutely sick I didn’t know about this performance so close to ne beforehand. If it wasn’t for my kid needing my help, I would cancel the trip just to be able to see them!! Please take pity on me, lol! You guys are my only hope. Either way, thank you soo much for offering this opportunity to win. At least I have some hope
I’d be sooooo happy to win. It’d be better than a hot tub full of Velveeta with a side of Oreos!
Take me back to hip hop
That would absolutely be a dope oldschool hip-hop show!- the Crystal Ballroom is a great venue for bass.
Yo, check it, lemme break it down for ya. 90s hip hop, that’s where it’s at. It’s all about that raw, real talk and those dope beats that make your head nod. You got legends like Biggie, Tupac, Nas, and Wu-Tang Clan spittin’ fire, droppin’ knowledge, and tellin’ stories from the streets. It’s that golden era where the flow was tight, the lyrics had meaning, and the culture was alive with breakdancing, graffiti, and street fashion. 90s hip hop is pure, unfiltered expression, a vibe that resonates deep and keeps the party hype.
I’d love to hit up a 90s hip hop show, ’cause I love PDX Pipeline and tell everyone about it.
Legends! I would love to go!
I need to go! This would be a great time! Hard year. Time for fun!
Old School!
Absolutely need to go to this
Need some raw east coast sound and a crystal ballroom stamp 😀
