Join us for a dance party celebrating Jerry Garcia’s life and music, featuring live and unreleased gems from the Grateful Dead as well as remixes of Garcia’s influences and those he inspired — all blended together by DJ Takimba and his hand-selected live musicians. They will be blending and reimagining remixes from the Dead, Janice Joplin, Steely Dan, Jefferson Airplane, Deep Purple, Phish, Goose and more.
This dance party will also be a feast for the eyes, featuring Easy — one of Portland’s most amazing light magicians — paying homage to the old liquid light shows of yesteryear by Portland’s late great Gary Ewing, taking you back to the psychedelic heyday of 1960s San Francisco.

Since 1999, Takimba has been behind the decks. Having seen the Grateful Dead since 1989, their major influence on Takimba’s music is evident. His mixing style, song blending, and the incorporation of live musicians in his sets all reflect this inspiration. For over a decade, Takimba has been re-mixing the music of the Grateful Dead and re-imagining songs from newer jam bands as well as other classic rock legends. With his project, Takimba and Friends, he merges the worlds of DJs and jam bands, adding subsonic frequencies to classic cuts with a live improvisational element that ensures every performance is familiar yet fresh and unlike any other.

My birthday is coming up in a week and I have always wanted to go see a dead show and I think this would be the best birthday gift I could get this year!
My boyfriend is a HUGE FAN of Grateful Dead fan and would love to take him to this event! He would be over the moon!
