Hailing from the vibrant music scene of Denver, Colorado, Steely Dead is a national touring band that has satisfied the curiosity of music lovers with their unique blend of Grateful Dead and Steely Dan. Comprised of four exceptionally talented musicians – Dave Abear on guitar, Matt Abear on bass, Chris Sheldon on drums, and Dylan Teifer on keys – Steely Dead has gained a dedicated following with their electrifying performances and soulful interpretations of classic tunes.
Steely Dead’s repertoire is a carefully crafted fusion of Grateful Dead and Steely Dan songs, between the arrangement and precision studio recordings of rock legends Steely Dan, cross-pollinated with the Grateful Dead’s free-flowing, melodic improvisation and masterful song segues. Steely Dead merges these major concepts together infusing the influence into each band, all the while creating an original jam element with the song segues. Steely Dead’s performances are a musical journey that takes audiences on a nostalgic trip through the golden era of rock and roll.
As a national touring band, Steely Dead has built a loyal fan base that eagerly anticipates their shows and follows them from city to city. Their performances are not just concerts, but communal gatherings where fans come together to celebrate the music they love, dance, and create lasting memories.
Steely Dead’s performances are a testament to the power of live music, bringing people together and creating an unforgettable experience that resonates long after the last note fades.
Steely Dead is not just a band; it’s a musical experience that captures the hearts and souls of music lovers everywhere
I’m cruising down by the Embarcadero, shirt open, wind whistling through my hair. And I wonder, wonder where the tickets are? My vintage white sneakers insist on dancing and I’ve promised that lady a drink with an umbrella.
would love to catch the DeadDan!
Sounds like a lot of fun. I’d love to see them.
No one believed me when I told them these guys are awesome. “That’s a stupid combination” “That doesn’t work” “Are you effing crazy?” Then they went and saw them at the Mission this spring and were BLOWN AWAY!
I’m ready to “go back, Jack, do it again, wheel turnin’ ’round and ’round”

I’m bringing my sister down to Portland for her birthday the weekend of November 1st and I’d looooove to win tickets for us to see Steely Dead!
Rock on.
Love these guys! Missed the last show at the Mission. Looking forward to this one and winning tix would make it so much sweeter!
Sounds like tons of fun! Would love to win tix!
Great!
You’d imagine rampant cognitive dissonance at such an event but the joy is amazing! The Dan covers are meticulously performed while the Dead covers favor the deeper cuts; no Uncle John’s Band!
The music never stopped …
Dead & The Dan. What’s not to like. Twirling day glow freaks who used to paint there face, they joined the human race, some things will never change!
This show definitely caught my eye a few months back, and I know they just played at the Mission Theatre recently. So if they’re at the Crystal Ballroom, they must’ve did well!
Sounds like a show for dancing!
if we win, can we spin?
This would be cool!
This would be awesome to go. I cannot convince enough of my fellow Deadheads that these guys are smokin’
Guess the band chose a better name than ‘Dan of the Dead’ (But I’ll bet they considered this one before rejecting it for being too macabre.)
One more do it again!
Ok, this sounds like fun!
Let’s go!
Awesome, hope I get to see
Sounds fun!
Thanks for providing musical opportunities for free. It’s appreciated!
I grew up listening to Steely Dan and the Dead with my dad. I would love to take him to this. It would make his day!
I LOVE Steely Dan and the Dead! I’d be dead and in heaven to hear their tunes combined.
I love both the Dead and Steely Dan, so why not together?
Steely Dead? No way! How great is that?
One way or another this darkness has got to give, but I’m never gonna do it without my Fez on!
Let’s go!!
Funky combination, I would love to see this!
Funky Dead is the jam! I’m here for it.
Funky jam! Im into it <3
Thanks for the offer, I’d love to see this concert!
What a mashup!!
What a combination!!!! Two of my very favorites. Hoping to win!
It would be amazing to win! Thanks for creating the opportunity 🤞
A blend of Steely Dan AND Grateful Dead?!?! I honestly have no idea what to expect but I’m sure it’ll be awesome. I wonder if they bring out the flute a little or if it’s actually like covers? I guess I’ll have to wait and see and see I shall 😉
lets do it!!
This would be interesting show,a cross between 2 great bands
What a fun mashup, would love to check this out!
Oooh that’s a great combo! Hope I get to go.
Need to show the daughter but we listen to Growing Up
Want to get to hear what my mom grew up with!!!
Never been to a concert. Love to go to this one.
What a great mash up! I’d love to attend if you choose me. Thank you!!
I am coming to Portland for the first time with my new old love, my childhood crush found out my marriage of 30 years ended horribly and now I am floating on a cloud and loving life with my dream come true Erin. She is going to show me the city, we are kicking off our Trip Halloween night and staying through the weekend. The reason for our trip is so she can see her old friends Floater on Saturday night so this show would be sprinkles on our magical weekend! We both love the Dead and I am just intrigued how these guys will birth this crazy jazzy rock and roll love child?
Such a great combo of guitar styles, really would love to go!
What a great combo! Sign me up!
Sounds fun, always enjoyed Steely Dan.
These guys are pretty good! A strange combo of bands that seem to work well together. I’d love to go see them!!
