Alberta Rose Theatre
3000 NE Alberta St, Portland, OR 97211

This Easter Sunday, help us repair and rehome legendary inner southeast industrial performance and rehearsal venue The Steep and Thorny Way to Heaven! Join some of Portland’s best alternative performing artists as we throw one heck of a party to help raise the funds it will take to fully “resurrect” this beloved Portland institution.

Featuring mini sets from The Steep and Thorny Way to Heaven’s signature monthly events Oddville: A New Vaudevillian Tradition and their haunted music series SEANCE, as well as performances from alumni performers such as Jacki Ward (Cirque Du Soleil, Cavalia), Lacy Knightly (Lacy Productions, Booklover’s Burlesque), The PDX Broadsides, immersive theatre company Speculative Drama, and more! Celebrating the broad spectrum of performance disciplines and artistic excellence that has graced the Steep and Thorny stage for the last 12 years, this is a night not to be missed!

Spring means new life, new growth, and a rebirth, so don’t miss this opportunity to help The Steep and Thorny Way to Heaven off the cross and back into the light! Want to support a little extra and get the best seats in the room? High Flyer VIP tickets include reservations for the best seats for aerial performances, a gift bag of goodies from Steep and Thorny and our sponsors, and your very own (literal) piece of The Steep and Thorny Way to Heaven to take home!

In addition to an all-star lineup of performances, Resurrection features custom drink specials from Steep and Thorny mixologists Myrrh Larsen and Megan Skye Hale and a raffle with prizes from performance groups, artisans, and local Portland businesses including Stumptown Coffee, Queer 101, Lacy Productions, Speculative Drama and more! And in Steep and Thorny tradition, come down in costume celebrating resurrection of any kind and we’ll even give you a special treat at the door.

On January 15th during the ice storm, tragedy hit when a sprinkler pipe in Portland’s underground performance home of the last 12 years burst due to the cold, dumping a half block’s worth of sprinkler system grey water into the small warehouse venue from the top down at pressure. Facing a total loss of sound, lighting, and music equipment as well as an unusable rental space, The Steep and Thorny Way to Heaven is staring down the barrel of almost $65,000 in demolition, repair, and replacement costs. Help us to resurrect this vital Portland arts institution and keep them making the high quality art we’ve come to know for at least another dozen years!

I’d love to be chosen. I went here once with my long term partner years ago and we had a magical time but after that ended I haven’t been back since. I’d love to share this experience with a friend of mine. 🙂
