I would love to win because I have never been able to attend an October oktoberfest before. I’ve always wanted to but never had the chance. It would be super exciting
I have been to an Oktoberfest in Munich Germany when young, an Oktoberfest in Fredericksburg Texas during my middle age, and now would like to attend this one in Portland, during my days of ‘wine and roses’.Plus I have been an appreciative beer drinker since age 14.
Would love to go as I’ve never been and it would be wonderful to celebrate my German heritage!
Love me some polka music!
Would love to go to an oktoberfest!
Never been to this..would love to see what it is all about
Ich würde mich gerne mit Freunden treffen, um zu essen, zu trinken und die Gemütlichkeit zu genießen! Frohe Oktoberfest!
I’d love to win, because I have never been, and have never had the opportunity to travel to other countries. I know there is a strong German presence in the city and it would be magical for the opportunity to get to share space with that community as a whole like this, as well as these businesses too!! I love promoting small businesses like these in my work as an Employment Specialist for Oregonians with disabilities, and the opportunity to connect with those present would be awesome.
I am visiting from southern California during Sept 21 to 24 and would love to join the festivities.
It is one of my favorite times of the year, I try to go to at least one person year, but I have never been able to go to Germany for it!

I would absolutely love to go!!! The only phrase I know in German is “eine helles weisenbier bitte” – “a light beer please” to order at a bar
It was a crisp fall afternoon in Portland, the kind of day where the air smells like damp leaves and the wind carries a cool bite, signaling the heart of Oktoberfest season. Heiko had been looking forward to this for weeks—a day spent with friends at the city’s famed Oktoberfest celebration, hosted at Pioneer Courthouse Square. The place was decked out in blue-and-white Bavarian flags, tents overflowing with pretzels, bratwurst, and, of course, endless steins of beer.
Heiko and his buddies arrived early, determined to make the most of it. The atmosphere was electric—live polka music playing, people in lederhosen and dirndls dancing on tables, and the sound of clinking mugs echoing everywhere. He started off responsibly, savoring the local craft Märzen. But as the day went on, the drinks kept flowing, and what started as a few relaxed pints quickly escalated.
His friends cheered him on as he downed another stein, and then another. Heiko, who prided himself on being able to keep up, accepted the challenge, fully embracing the Oktoberfest spirit. Between the raucous laughter, the toasts to “Prost!” and the dizzying whirl of activity around him, it wasn’t long before he’d lost track of how many beers he had actually consumed. One friend handed him a beer the size of his head, and despite the hazy look in his eyes, he took it down like a champ.
However, it soon became clear that the limit had been surpassed. What had been a blur of fun turned into a slow-motion disaster. The ground beneath him swayed like the deck of a ship, and the once-appetizing smell of sausages and sauerkraut now made his stomach churn. Desperately, Heiko sought out a quiet corner away from the crowd.
Just as he reached the edge of the square, his stomach gave him its final warning. And then it happened—a spectacular, gut-wrenching wave of beer-fueled regret. He doubled over, releasing what felt like an entire keg’s worth of liquid into the nearby bushes, a sight that wasn’t exactly uncommon at an event like this. Some festival-goers nearby shook their heads knowingly, while others just laughed it off, recognizing it as part of the messy charm of Oktoberfest.
With the worst behind him, Heiko managed to rejoin his friends, who offered him a pretzel as a peace offering. They didn’t let him live it down, of course, but that was all part of the Oktoberfest experience—a wild day of revelry, friendship, and occasionally, learning exactly where your limit is.
Yes, sounds like fun!

How is the winner picked? Random? Best comment? Sort of like Queen for a day. Most heart wrenching story?
If so, my Stage IV Cancer hurts and this sounds like a great way feel better for a bit. Doctors note as proof available upon request.
Enjoy!
