Marina Herlop presents her debut for the avant-garde Berlin label PAN, shortly after her live shows at Mutek and L’Auditori in Barcelona, and before her appearance at the Rewire, Dekmantel, Primavera Sound festivals or at the Barbican in London.

The album will be called “Pripyat” and will be released on vinyl and digital platforms. Today she previews a new song- “shaolin mantis” -after her first preview “miu” accumulated spectacular reviews in media such as Pitchfork or Fact Magazine.

Marina Herlop studied piano from her childhood, but it was not until she was 20 that she committed herself to composition. Since she began her studies at the Badalona Conservatory, she has been experimenting with harmony and melody in voice and piano, and has released two albums -“Nanook” (2016) and “Babasha” (2018)- documenting the process up to come up with her new album “Pripyat”, which incorporates digital production that allows her to manipulate her voice, creating unexpected rhythms that make it her most intensely emotional work to date.

We can still find her characteristic melodic piano and graceful vocal lines from her, but “Pripyat” has a much fuller, almost chaotic sound compared to her previous work, adding electronic drums, electric bass lines, and background effects. sublime production.

For my money, “shaolin mantis” is an instant classic. Combine this with a performance at TOC, and I am all in, or I would like to be! Thank you!
