In “A Song Film by Kishi Bashi: “Omoiyari” acclaimed Japanese American musician Kishi Bashi embarks on a transformative journey to confront his heritage and reconcile the painful history of Japanese American incarceration during World War II. Inspired by the rising tide of discrimination against marginalized communities, Kishi Bashi delves into the untold stories of incarceration survivors, composing an album titled “Omoiyari” that captures their experiences. “Omoiyari” is Kishi Bashi’s fourth album following the acclaimed 151a (2012), Lighght (2014), and Sonderlust (2016), which have garnered serious acclaim from outlets including NPR Music, The Wall Street Journal and The Guardian, and his most important yet. Through breathtaking performances and intimate interviews, Kishi Bashi’s music becomes a catalyst for healing and social change, urging audiences to embrace empathy, understanding, and love in the face of prejudice and discrimination.”
Oooh pick me!
Such a great artist, would love to see him for this show!
Song Film!? I didn’t even know this was a thing! Kishi Bashi is so wonderful, I would love to check this out. 💖
We saw him years ago for his first tour, would love to see him again 🙂
Yes, please. Big fan of his yet haven’t seen him live
My husband and I love him. Many songs on many playlists. Such beautiful music.
I don’t know that I’ve ever wanted to win a prize more. I’ve been following Kishi Bashi’s journey through making this film and I’d really love to see the final work!
Sounds amazing!
That will be cool.
Dang! I didn’t even know this was happening! Would be so cool to see this film and performance together…..
I’ve been following Kishi Bashi since before he was a solo artist. I’d be driving from Seattle and took the night off from work in hopes of seeing him there. Would be amazing to get 2 tickets so I can also bring my road trip buddy.
Id love to attend this concert! I’ve seen kishi bashi twice, once for the string quartet live show at the Aladdin, and once at wonder ballroom for the sonderlust tour. They were both great bonding experiences for my dad and I, as music is one of the ways both him and I speak. Kishi is the artist I pair with my early teen years, and I’d love another opportunity to see him, as the tix are too expensive for my budget!
I would love to attend! I saw Kishi Bashi when he visited Portland while filming it—a dreamy, intimate show—and saw excerpts of the documentary when he played with the Oregon Symphony. Seeing the final cut would be a delight!
I love history and Kishi Bashi. This would be the perfect marriage of both of my loves! Would love this as a night out!
What an honor is it be to see him in his utmost prestige!! He is a violin genius and everything he does is a poetic justice!!!
I’m a huge fan of Kishi Bashi I saw him announce this film before Covid and saw how much this meant to him. I’d love to see he final work
