Monkey With a Hat On is a local theater company dedicated to creating fun, affordable, and inclusive performances. Since 2011, they’ve produced original work that brings people together—from seasoned artists to first-time performers—always with the goal of building community through creativity and heart.

The Ten Minute Play Festival is the cornerstone of that mission. Produced two to three times per year, every festival features a new theme. This weekend, they’re proud to present their 34th festival, the Nature Ten Minute Play Festival. Featuring six, brand-new, locally written and produced plays, along with live music in between each of the plays – every act includes elements of the Nature theme! The 10MPF is the result of an open submission process, a free writers workshop, and community-wide auditions—showcasing the talents of over 50 Portlanders.

The Nature 10MPF Features…

• A singing tree on the edge of sanity
• One man’s fight against the weeds on his lawn
• An adopted dog torn between his old pack and a new kitty friend
• A cracked ex-employee attempting to thwart a CEO’s terraforming plans
• Mother Nature training her baby to be a contender in the ring
• An arborist trying to understand their teenager while dealing with an unhinged rabbit
• The musical act, Junglecorp, performing in-between all of the plays with their Nature-themed story of a murder at a haunted campground!
