After closing earlier this year, one of Southeast Portland’s long-running independent bars is back. The former Landmark Saloon has reopened as Switchback Saloon under the ownership of two long-time regulars. The official Grand Opening of the Switchback Saloon is Friday, July 24 and Saturday, July 25, with live bands, drink specials, cornhole, amazing BBQ from LeRoy’s, and a few other surprises (such as a come one come all group facial hair shaving ceremony).

Scott Phillips and Graham Talley, working with the previous owner Nick Wilson, are keeping the neighborhood bar and music venue alive. The bar will continue to offer the mix that made the old Landmark a neighborhood institution: cheap tallboys, good whiskey, live music, a sprawling back patio, and a place where people can hang out that embodies the eclectic, local character of the city.
