Based on Henry Murger’s 1851 novel Scènes de la vie de bohème, Puccini’s soaring arias tell the tender tale of Mimi and Rodolfo as they face the perils of poverty. A story that transcends time and place, its message of love through adversity resonates deeply with our community’s spirit. In its characters we see ourselves—the artists, the dreamers, and the everyday people, who face challenges but never lose sight of love and connection.
With the Portland Opera Orchestra, Chorus, and Children’s Chorus.

Sounds amazing!
My husband and I love to explore cultural activities. We have explored ballet, musical theater, and attended our first opera this summer we attended Falstaff. We went in with curiosity and thoroughly enjoyed this interpretation of the Merry Wives of Windsor!

This is my favorite opera! I was even a part of it when I was a child singer. We got to all run around a be pesky kids during the cafe scene. Now that I’m older, I can still remember the words and music of my part now 40 years later.

La Boheme is probably one of my favorite Puccini operas … not to mention the fact that the wildly popular Broadway musical, “Rent,”
is an adaption of “La Boheme.” This opera also inspired the movie, “Moulin Rouge.”
La Boheme is so apropos in today’s world with all the challenges we are all now facing, knowing love and connection always helps us get through some of these challenges.
