Join Many Hats Collaboration for a new works revolution!

Some new plays start with a writer, a table, and a group of actors. At The Hatchery, new plays begin with an imaginary dance. A red dress vision. An earworm melody. Or an irresistible beat. The Hatchery, an innovative development program supporting artists who create music and movement-centered theater, makes its public debut on August 25th with a festival of FREE events and performances. Be there when two production teams open their doors to share their plays-in-progress following a week of intensive work in the studio.

The full day of festivities includes:

• La Mariposa, a devised play with music that pays homage to Aztec female rites of mourning, tricksters, bachata dance, and folklórico vocals, by Sofia Marks with Isabel McTighe
• WHY and HOW Are Not in the Picture, an absurdist musical performed entirely in American Sign Language (ASL) with open captions, commissioned from playwright/director/actor Monique Holt
• A moderated panel on creating d/Deaf theater
• An all-bodies-welcome dance class
• A catered happy hour

All events are FREE, open to the public, and will have ASL interpretation and/or audio description available. While there is no admission charge, Many Hats Collaboration requests that you reserve seats for the performances in advance. Registration and the full schedule is available here.
