No matter what your pubic-politics are these days, you have to admit it’s time for everybody to go to extremes. John Waters is back on the road with a whole new radical comedy revival show whose sermon will beg the authorities to drop a net on both himself and his rabidly insane audience. Yes, they’re coming to take him away, ha-ha, ho-ho, hee-hee, but he doesn’t care. He knows his deviously demented fans will fight back with a limp-wrist fist. Nasty neuters, hetero hell-cats with benefits, flaming straight guys, butch twinks, diesels with measles, trans who dress as their masculinized moms and feminized fathers — they know they’re welcome here.

Calling all rock’n’roll refugees, illegal space aliens, John Waters says climb on over the wall to the other side. He’s dressed to thrill and ready to rant about pro-punk conversion therapy, right-wing female-female impersonators, extreme amusement parks, even prank guerrilla placement of phony incendiary book titles in libraries that recently banned gay children’s classics. Yessir, the Duke of Dirt has reckless eyeballs and he’s lookin’ for you, lunatics. Let’s all drill a hole in our heads so we’re high forever and crash the Kennedy Center. His filth followers don’t get off, they get on you and scream, “Go! Go! Go to the John Waters show!” Going to Extremes. It’ll make you scream.

I never seem to catch him hitchhiking, so this is my best chance to see him!

John Waters turning 80? That’s a once-in-a-lifetime level of weird, wild, and wonderfully unfiltered celebration. I’d love to be there soaking in the stories, the humor, and the pure chaos from a true icon who’s never been afraid to push boundaries. Count me in!

  3. Anne on March 18, 2026 at 2:24 pm

John Waters turns 80 and there’s a radical comedy revival show to celebrate — and you’re asking me if I want tickets??

I have watched Pink Flamingos. Voluntarily. More than once. I own a pencil-thin mustache just for special occasions. My taste in film has cleared entire rooms at dinner parties and I wear that like a badge of honor.

John Waters didn’t just make movies — he made people like me feel seen. Gloriously, disturbingly, hilariously SEEN. The Aladdin Theater is the perfect church for this unholy celebration and I need to be in that pew.

Pick me. I promise to dress appropriately. (That means something very different in Waters world and we both know it.)

This would be a dream come true!

  7. Jennifer on March 20, 2026 at 11:17 am

Short of eating a particular canine “delicacy” a la Divine in Pink Flamingos, I’d do nearly anything to attend this birthday party and celebrate the man, the myth, and the filthy legend that is THE John Waters!

John Waters turning 80 at the Aladdin Theater is exactly the kind of iconic, delightfully unhinged night I need in my life 🖤🎂 I’m ready for bold laughs, cult-classic energy, and a room full of people who appreciate the beautifully bizarre. I’ll show up dressed to impress, laugh like there’s no tomorrow, and fully commit to the spirit of the Radical Comedy Revival. This isn’t just a show—it’s a moment 💄🔥 #RadicalComedyRevival #JohnWaters80

Well well well Divine decadence still exists. My first forey into Pink flamingos was at the Sombrero theatre in red hot az.1977 I do believe was the year… Just a steamy gal hoping to get a full frame of advice on how to be amazed by this fabulous life. Thank You John for the delivery in smellavision cards for my next movie. I am so much older and still wearing pink. It would be a pleasure to see your show. Cheers. Lulu

John Waters was holding a sign at last weekend’s No Kings protest that said “Trump ruined bad taste” 🤣 So glad he’s still with us and loudly being himself

What a better way to spend your 80th birthday than with someone half your age? Double Aries birthday celebration–it’s like Easter all over. I’ll bring the confetti, you bring the cake.
