Lan Su Chinese Garden invites guests of all ages to Dongzhi: A Chinese Holiday Party—four special days celebrating the winter solstice. Enjoy illuminated evenings in the garden, featuring both modern innovations and traditional Chinese twists on winter festivities. Don’t miss your chance to meet our very own Chinese Santa for a holiday photo op and special kids’ activity with peace apples. Gather around the decorated bamboo arch where a professional photographer will capture your cherished moments.

Engage your senses by rolling and tasting tangyuan (湯圓)—a classic Dongzhi rice ball dessert, decorating our Dongzhi tree, and exploring interactive augmented reality (AR) displays that take you on a journey through the stories of Chinese Americans in Portland, in partnership with CETI.

Plus, stop by the Garden Shop to pick up some unique gifts, including 2025 calendars by a local Portland artist and Chinese arts–themed building-brick sets. Yun Shui Teahouse will also be serving up a special seasonal menu you won’t want to miss.
