BACKFENCE is thrilled to bring you more true stories this time around based on the theme, ‘UNEXPECTED CONNECTIONS.’

The media mix for the stories in this show includes video, illustration, overhead projector (transparencies!), opera (yes! a story framed by a live opera singer), and a duo story! Think Pop Up Magazine without Apple money.

Stories range from hilarious, to sexy, to gross, to sweet, to scary, filled with sweet poignance, and a mix of all of the above.

Our banger line up for this show includes local author & illustrator, Vera Brosgol, whose new book Return to Sender just hit the NYT middle grade Best Seller list — for this show she’ll be telling a bit of a scandalous late teen story with illustrations.

Two of Portland’s best raconteurs, Chris Williams & Travis Abels will tell brand new stories in an intertwining duo format.

Stanford rhetoric lecturer Harriett Jernigan’s hilarious story of the very most unexpected connections in Germany will be heightened with operatic flair through the dulcet tones of Hilary Whitmore.

Mortified fan favorite, Jimmy Radosta will show clips from the High School high art films he acted in along with a sweet & funny story that connects to his past.

And finally, Frayn Masters will attempt to bring to life her story using her favorite old school medium, the overhead projector.
