Portland Songwriters Week is a citywide celebration of original songwriting and the community that makes it possible.

Held August 23–29, Portland Songwriters Week brings together songwriters, venues, local businesses, and audiences across Portland for a series of intimate, low-cost shows that highlight the depth, diversity, and vitality of the city’s songwriting scene. With fourteen performances hosted in both traditional music venues and everyday community spaces, the week is designed to make discovery accessible, strengthen relationships, and affirm songwriting as a shared cultural practice rooted in place.

Portland Songwriters Week also reflects PSG’s commitment to sustainable, community-centered growth. Rather than building a large, resource-intensive festival, the week is intentionally lightweight and partnership-driven—modeled after Portland’s beloved citywide “weeks” (think: Portland Burger Week or Pizza Week) tThrough shared promotion, collaborative hosting, and modest pricing, the event strengthens PSG’s relationships with venues and community partners while testing a repeatable model for earned income and visibility that does not overextend the organization or its people.
