An Iranian-American woman confronts her younger self — a child trapped in a world where letters refuse to behave. Navigating school, language, and identity, the girl feels perpetually just out of reach until an unexpected guide appears: Albert Einstein. Together, they begin to reframe what it means to learn, to struggle, and to be seen.

The Words Will Come: Inside the Dyslexic Mind is a world premiere from LES Shakespeare Co., written and directed by Melody Erfani. Blending projection, immersive sound, and physical storytelling, this visually striking production invites audiences inside the lived experience of dyslexia — not as a deficit, but as a different way of seeing, thinking, and making meaning.

Both intimate and imaginative, the play explores frustration, resilience, and the courage it takes to navigate a world not built for the way your mind works. Developed through residencies at HB Studio (NYC) and Performance Works Northwest (Portland), the piece has been shaped by conversations with families, educators, and individuals with dyslexia — many of whom describe seeing their experience reflected on stage for the first time.

Following select performances, post-show conversations will invite audiences to engage more deeply with themes of dyslexia, neurodivergent learning, and arts education.
