HR Generalist

We are seeking an experienced HR Generalist with a strong talent acquisition background to join our Portland, OR team.  In this role, you’ll support HR strategies with a people-centered approach, partnering with managers and front-line leaders to support performance management, employee relations, compliance, and engagement and retention initiatives.

In addition, you’ll serve as a trusted advisor to hiring teams, executing recruitment strategies, managing candidate pipelines, and ensuring consistent, compliant, and positive experience.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Compliance, Employee Relations & Performance Management = 40%

  • Consult with managers, frontline leaders and employees, providing HR guidance and ensuring compliance with all applicable employment laws, regulations and internal policies.
  • Actively support and reinforce company culture grounded in our core values.
    Guide managers in identifying, documenting, and addressing performance gaps while strengthening engagement, productivity, and retention.
  • Address employee relations concerns promptly, conduct investigations, and partner with leadership on resolutions.
  • Support HR programs (performance reviews, engagement and retention initiatives, personal development plans).

Recruiting and Talent Delivery = 40%

  • Support the talent acquisition process, including recruiting, interviewing, and hiring qualified job applicants.
  • Build sustainable talent pipelines through proactive external engagement aligned to business workforce needs.
  • Source candidates using job boards, trade schools, universities, career fairs, industry associations, and social media.
  • Support measurable improvements in hiring quality, speed, and experience.
    Develop and implement improvements to recruiting processes and candidate experience.

Other = 20%

  • Use data, insights, and trends to inform decisions, identify risks, and uncover opportunities for improvement.
  • Design and deliver manager training across HR practices, including interviewing, performance management, corrective action, harassment prevention, policy education, and onboarding best practices.
  • Performs other duties as needed to contribute to the effectiveness and success of the HR function.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related discipline is preferred; equivalent experience will also be considered.
  • 5+ years progressive HR experience with minimum 2 years as an HR Generalist.
    2 years full cycle recruiting experience including sourcing, screening, selection, offer and negotiation and onboarding.
  • 1+ year experience of resolving employee relations matters and leading investigations .
    Professional in Human Resources® (HRCI PHR®) or Society of Human Resources Management Certified Professional (SHRM CP®) certification, preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Broad knowledge of human resources practices including compensation, performance management, leadership development, employee relations, change management and organizational development.
  • Exceptional communication, consultation, problem‑solving, and relationship‑building skills.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
  • Previous manufacturing industry experience, preferred

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Typical administrative / office environment: no exposure to adverse environmental conditions

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Sedentary work: exerting up to 10 lb. of force occasionally
