The Garcia Project performs full, unaltered classic Jerry Garcia Band setlists from 1976-1995 – song for song, set for set – using era-correct arrangements, tempos, instrumentation, and gear to recreate the authentic sound that defined those legendary shows.
Since 2010, The Garcia Project is more than a tribute, the band delivers the emotional and communal experience that made the classic Jerry Garcia Band so beloved. A recent Grateful Web feature described their performances as “a night of healing, heart, and pure Jerry magic,” noting that The Garcia Project opens “a little doorway back to the Jerry Garcia Band years,” with the same warmth, looseness, and deep musical breath that defined the original concerts.
Over the years, fans have affectionately dubbed The Garcia Project the ‘DSO of JGB’ – not as a comparison to any other band, but to express the level of precision, intention, and respect they bring to recreating classic shows.
Garcia!
I’m an avid Deadhead, and continue to travel this country as I did on tour, but now for work and manage to catch any dead related music that I can! SO excited that I will be in Portland for this show! My experiences at JGB shows were always like church to me😇
We were too young for the JGB and would love to experience this in it’s reverence. Gosh we love all things Dead! We do a GRAVEFUL DEAD Halloween display every year that comes complete with a full band and a crowd of over 15 skeletal spinners and deadheads!
Yay!
I will be the ultimate winner of destiny!!!
I’d dance there!
i’ve been saving my best moves for this show !
yes please!
Favorite!
I neeed YOU….are my shining star! Would love to check this out plus I’ve never been to the Mission before.
Give me the reason to spin!
I’d love to see The Garcia Project! Big fan of the Jerry Garcia Band and Bob Dylan, the Mission Theater is a great venue for this music.
“Ten years ago, I walked this street my dreams were riding tall
Tonight I would be thankful Lord, for any dream at all.
Some folks would be happy just to have one dream come true
But everything you gather is just more that you can lose.
Come again, walking along in the Mission in the rain.”
How amazing!! Sounds great to this 72 year old hippie 😎
I love the Grateful Dead and I think the Garcia project is one of the best tribute bands out. Saw them in Eugene and I love them. I’d love to go with my friend. Thanks.
I need a miracle! ☝️
Love this! I imagine there will be great vibes at this show🙌
GBB is a great time and I’d love to get my dance on.
At the Last Garcia Project I watched a wookette giving birth during the 2nd set. I was just peaking on some 2ci. People were trying to get medical help, but they hadn’t arrived. Some other wookette claimed to be a midwife and was coaching the woman through this. Her wook man is standing there shirtless and spun like top, just making these weird sounds while he is crushing his beer can and spraying coors light all over everyone. He looked really anxious about the whole thing, grabbing his face and just making grunts and stuff.
The baby’s head starts to crown and the medics still haven’t arrived.
This is where it gets crazy…
It was so f****** dusty out there and the baby and all the surrounding fluids were immediately “muddified” by the blowing dirt. I mean, its f****** gross. All of a sudden, this f****** kid (probably 19 or 20) in his oversized neon, flat-brim LRG hat, runs up yelling “welcome to the party b****!” before he blows a huge plume of smoke right in the baby’s face! While the umbilical cord is still attached and s***!
The smell was unmistakeable, this baby had just been deemster’d.
He must have pulled the hit from a bong, b/c it was monstrous. The surrounding crowd dropped their jaws, and someone tackled the kid as he starts to run away. He didn’t make it more than 10ft and the he was probably blasting off about now.
The mom is clutching the dirty baby and trying to calm it. Though, strangely, the baby was not crying (tripping balls i guess?).
And while the dude is getting screamed at, the dad suddenly pounces into action. He jumps on the dude, and starts smashing said garcia project’s kid’s face with the crushed up beer can, of which he seemingly just can’t let go. The garcia kid is kicking and trying to roll out of it and the wook-dad grabs the kid’s hair w/ one hand. he finally let the can go and shoves his other hand half way inside the guys mouth. He is pulling his mouth open and RIPS HIS CHEEK OPEN! repeat: rips his f****** CHEEK OPEN!
there is blood everywhere and the dude lets out this braveheart-like scream as he gets pulled off by the folks around him. Blood all over garcia kid’s face, shirt and formerly fresh flat breezy. The cops/medics arrived about that time and took over the situation.
S*** was crazy as hell.
I’d love to see that again with a free ticket…
I would really like to see this event.
…and I’m waiting for a miracle…(please!)
Let’s Time Travel! Love these guys and would enjoy seeing them again, at my favorite venue.
Oh yeah!!!
Sayyyyyyy what? This looks SAAAA—WHEEEET! I would love to go dance all nice and show off my love light <3
Names Tyler Cash and the show must go on! The Garcia Project in Portland is about to go down on my Birthday March 21st. I’ll be bringing high energy, immaculate vibes and lots of love!
YEAH!!!
I’d like to go!
Would love to go!
Sooo much LOVE ✌️💟
Need a little Garcia in my life!
Run for the Rose City !!
I went to my first Dead show in the early 80’s. If I was born earlier, I probably would have lived on Haight Ashbury!
Yes please!
Jerry Garcia is always a win
I may have dated a dude in a similar band… or was it this one? Who cares.. music is music and I like it loud…
Only got to see The Dead in Las Vegas in 1991…and didn’t make it to another show before Jerry passed. Would love to re-live old times with a friend who is a huge fan.
