Starting at 9:30AM onto 82nd Avenue from SE Bush Street, next to Eastport Plaza, Disbanding at SE 78th and Yamhill
Starting with a small parade in 2007, a small group of businesses, friends and neighbors created a fun, festive and welcoming event that shows off the neighborhoods around 82nd Avenue. The Pandemic slowed down its momentum, but organizers say, “we’re back!” With more than 60 languages spoken in SE schools, 82nd Avenue is surrounded by the highest percentage of Asian, Black and Indigenous communities in Portland. The 82nd Avenue of Roses Parade features the best of this diverse community.
ANNOUNCERS WILL BE LOCATED AT THE BEGINNING OF THE PARADE.
This year’s Grand Marshal is Joe V from KPTV. The Lee’s Association Dragon and Lion Dance Team will be joining the Parade this year as well as the Last Regiment of Syncopated Drummers, The Beat Goes On and the Rose Festival Clown Prince.
The Friesian Horses from Washington will also dance their way north on 82nd Avenue for the third year to the appreciation of many adults and children. A Classic Car Club brings out their shiniest displays, some cruising in the parade and many participating in a Cruise-In at Gary Small SAAB, 1940 SE 82nd from Noon to 4PM. Sponsored by the Impala Car Club it will be a fun way to spend the rest of the day after having lunch on 82nd Avenue.
The 17th Annual 82nd Avenue of Roses Parade takes place on Saturday, April 29, stepping off at 9:30am just north of Eastport Plaza at Bush Street, and travels north on 82nd Avenue, turning west onto Yamhill St. in the Montavilla neighborhood and finishing at SE 78th before noon. The parade will be live-streamed at 9:30AM on KATU’s website and Facebook page. Register to parade, sponsor or volunteer: https://82rosescec.com
