Bookkeeper

Pay: $50,000/year (DOE)

Work Schedule: 40 hours week flex schedule with Monday and Friday mandatory

Reports to: Controller 

Portland Spirit has helped create special memories for passengers from all over the world for the past 30+ years. We offer sightseeing, meal and specialty cruises on the Willamette River aboard our fleet of four boats. A rare opportunity to join our team has recently become available. We are looking for a bookkeeper to join our office located in SE Portland. This is a 100% in office role. This position works closely with and reports to the Controller. Must be able to pass a criminal history background check. Please note: We are a dog friendly office. 

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS: 

• Previous experience with Quickbooks is a plus 
• Experience in cash handling, reconciling bank and credit card statements ● Ability to multi-task, organized team player 
• Confidentiality required 
• Valid driver’s license for bank drops (mileage is reimbursable) 
• Excellent customer service experience; communication skills, written and oral ● Proficient in English and telephone etiquette 

ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Daily boat reconciliations and emailing notes about drops 
• Customer billing (i.e. invoices) 
• Issuing and auditing manager banks and register banks 
• Petty cash reconciliation (including month end totals) 
• Charge-backs 
• Maintaining accounting paperwork for the boats (i.e. Onboard credit slips, change requests, manager bank forms, etc.) 

ACCOUNTS PAYABLE RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Processing and entering invoices in Quickbooks 
• Weekly check and ACH runs 
• Reconcile credit card transactions 

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Assist with payroll, specifically commissions and tip distributions 
• Assist with gift shop inventory 
• Other duties as assigned.
