Tufenkian Showroom & Rug Support Associate

Website Tufenkian Artisan Carpets

Tufenkian Artisan Carpets is seeking an energetic, hands-on Showroom & Rug Support Associate to join our Portland team.

This is a highly active, physical role supporting the showroom and client experience. The Associate works alongside our sales team during appointments, helping move, flip, present, and organize rugs so clients and designers can explore different designs, colors, textures, and sizes.

We are looking for someone with a natural interest in design, color, interiors, craftsmanship, and beautiful products. Prior professional design or rug experience is not required. What matters is curiosity, good instincts, a willingness to learn, and an interest in developing the product knowledge and communication skills needed to support the client experience.

Showroom & Client Support

  • Support sales professionals during showroom appointments and client visits.
  • Pull, move, flip, roll, and present rugs as clients consider options.
  • Help work through rug stacks, racks, and collections during the selection process.
  • Arrange rugs so clients can better understand color, scale, pattern, and texture.
  • Learn to suggest appropriate rugs and alternatives alongside the salesperson.
  • Build knowledge of Tufenkian collections, materials, constructions, craftsmanship, and company story.
  • Help create a welcoming, organized, and elevated showroom experience.
  • Rug Handling, Shipping & Receiving
  • Receive incoming rugs, samples, and merchandise and ensure they are properly checked and organized.
  • Prepare rugs for deliveries, transfers, returns, and shipments.
  • Roll, wrap, package, label, load, and unload rugs and showroom merchandise.
  • Organize rug racks, piles, samples, and back-of-house inventory.
  • Support local deliveries, installations, presentations, and showroom projects as needed.
  • Showroom Maintenance
  • Maintain a clean, organized, visually appealing showroom.
  • Vacuum, clean, straighten, and reset rugs and displays.
  • Keep storage areas, racks, samples, and shipping materials organized.
  • Assist with displays, furniture movement, rug placement, appointments, and events.
  • Take ownership of the physical condition and presentation of the showroom.

Who We Are Looking For

  • The ideal candidate does not need to be an experienced salesperson or interior designer. We are looking for someone who:
  • Enjoys a physical, active work environment and is comfortable handling large rugs.
  • Has a natural appreciation for design, interiors, color, fashion, art, or architecture.
  • Notices differences in color, texture, pattern, and presentation.
  • Is personable and comfortable interacting with clients while supporting the salesperson.
  • Is curious and eager to learn about rugs, craftsmanship, materials, and interiors.
  • Is dependable, organized, attentive, and willing to jump in where needed.
  • Works well as part of a team and follows direction while becoming increasingly proactive.
  • Is comfortable with packaging, receiving, shipping, cleaning, lifting, and moving.

Physical Requirements

This is a physically active showroom position. Candidates must be able to regularly stand, bend, reach, lift, roll, flip, and move rugs and showroom merchandise. Larger rug presentations often require two team members working together.
