Portland’s all-vegan Compassionate Living Festival is happening on Saturday, September 28 at Norse Hall. This mini-VegFest celebrates 20 years of Northwest Veg, a non-profit organization dedicated to joyfully educating and encouraging people to make vegan choices for a healthy, sustainable, and compassionate world. The proceeds from this event benefit Northwest Veg in the continuing pursuit of their mission.
The event will focus on fostering community for people, the planet, and animals. Many vegan food and drink vendors will provide free samples, inspiring culinary exploration. A few of the featured vendors include Prime Roots, Obon Shokudo, Camellia Pistrina, Cultured Kindness, Chicharronies, Kakaiba Bakery, The Better Bar, Tomomochi, Buttah!, Vtopian Artisan Cheeses, and more.
Three vegan chef demos will showcase delicious recipes, offering mouthwatering samples in each session. Featured chefs include Linda Tyler, author of Gracious Vegan Cookbook; Deb Kay, a popular plant-based cooking instructor; and Chuck Underwood, author of Brand New Vegan’s Comfort Food Classics.
The speaker lineup includes Erin Wing, Deputy Director of Investigations for Animal Outlook; Cory Davis, MBA, MSc.IM, P.Ag, an agrologist and sustainability advocate; and keynote speaker Brenda Davis, RD, a renowned dietitian and author of Plant Powered Protein. A dynamic panel of experts will share insights on vegan dining, traveling, making budget-conscious choices, and eco-friendly consumer options.
Other vendors include candles, soap, jewelry, hand-dyed yarn, crystals, clothing, bags, and other artisanal crafts. Attendees will also find skincare, haircare, photography/videography services, and more, including platinum sponsor Dill Ward, a vegan realtor. The event is presented in partnership with @veggiesdoitbetter.
Other attractions at this family-friendly, inclusive event are a photo booth, karaoke, and children’s activities organized by the Vegan Scouts, with children’s tickets priced at just $1.
