When LDW, the west coast’s premiere purveyors of Talking Heads music, and Garcia Birthday Band, the PNW’s definitive tenders of the Grateful Dead experience first decided to join forces as Talking Dead, the vision was to leave bodies in a sweaty heap on the dancefloor. The cracked floorboards of Portland’s ballrooms are proof of that vision’s success.
Each Talking Dead performance is a unique marathon event. With seamless full-band transitions and no set-breaks, these are not dance parties for the lighthearted. Byrne compositions bleed into Garcia cuts, and then the two melt back together in a harmony of post-punk and psychedelia. Be prepared for song couplings you never could have imagined, groove mutations of fantasy mix-tapes, and an outright celebration of two of the greatest song catalogues in history uniting in joyous triumph.
