The Low Bones
The Low Bones are a Roots Rock/Americana band based in Portland, Oregon. Their original songwriting recalls the country-rock sound of Gram Parsons, Camper Van Beethoven and Uncle Tupelo with enough classic rock to bring Tom Petty into the fray. Their songs evoke the dusty barrooms and taverns where bands sang stories that made you want to listen, laugh, cry, and dance. The Willamette Week affirms, ” Portland’s Low Bones’ distinctive sound sets them apart from the packed roots-rock crowd. Instrumentally tight and inspired”.
Portland, Oregon-based Rakes deliver an energetic, hook-laden attack of rock, soul, and roots-tinged electrified goodness on the band’s debut, self-titled EP. Containing four tracks, the album maneuvers from the bouncy “Turn Me Down,” the chug of “Dig Deep,” the mid-tempo power of “Summer 78′,” and the key drenched pop closer of “Dead Once Again.”
Comprised of front man Andy Foster (vocals, guitar), Chelsea Glasgow (vocals), Arik Ohlson (drums), D. Rives Curtright (bass), Jake Kersley (keys), the quintet uses the beautiful combination of Foster and Glasgow’s vocals – a la X, The B-52s, etc. – to deliver a sweet, soulful presence backed up by a band that can dig deep into soul trenches and come out rocking with a sweaty energy unlike others.
The band is currently working on their debut full-length.
