Over the past seven seasons, Bag&Baggage Productions has gained a reputation for producing tongue-in-cheek, over-the-top, farcical holiday shows, and the 2014 offering will be the company’s most outrageous and hilarious yet. A Miracle on 43rd Street: A Holiday Radio Massacre is the second 1940s radio show spoof Bag&Baggage has produced, following on from last season’s smash hit It’s A (somewhat) Wonderful Life, and stars many of the same actors reprising their critically acclaimed roles.

The cast and crew of the fictional KBNB Radio Classics program are preparing for their annual Christmas Eve broadcast of Miracle on 34th Street, the beloved holiday tale of the Macy’s Santa Claus who turns out to be the real thing. But, as with last year’s program, their best laid plans go horribly wrong live on-air, turning what should be an uplifting Christmas eve radio show into a full scale farce of biblical proportions.

Based loosely (very, very loosely) on the actual text of the New York-based Lux Radio Theatre’s live broadcast of Miracle on 34th Street from 1948, B&B’s Miracle on 43rd Street adds a Mafia mob boss with an itchy trigger finger, a New York detective with a love of 1940s musicals, a mortally wounded sound effects engineer, a Broadway starlet with delusions of grandeur and a disgraced Hollywood actor desperate to repair his reputation; all of whom join forces to utterly destroy the classic Christmas tale, with hilarious and heart-warming results.

“We’ve only been in rehearsals for two weeks and I’m already exhausted,” said Jessica Geffen, who plays Lana, a New Jersey make-up counter saleswoman who skyrocketed to stardom in last year’s radio show. “It has been an incredible challenge for all of us; how to make this year’s show more hilarious, more complicated and more farcical than last year. This is far more than just a sequel.”

Scott Palmer, B&B’s Artistic Director and the adaptor of the script, says, “Think Noises Off meets Monty Python meets A Prairie Home Companion meets Bullets Over Broadway meets Home For The Holidays, kind of.”

Miracle on 43rd Street stars Bag&Baggage Resident Acting Company member Jessica Geffen, reprising her scene stealing role of Lana North Berkshire-Whiteside, Gary Strong as KBNB Radio Manager Winston Whiteside and Brandon McFarland as long-suffering stage manager and sound effects artist Peter Paulson. Joining the cast in new roles are B&B Resident Actors Luke Armstrong as Antony Antonini, Lana’s mob-boss ex-boyfriend and Clara Hillier as Felicity Fay Fitzpatrick, a Broadway super star with an ego problem.

Expect a disaster this holiday season…Bag&Baggage style!
