Paula Sinclair
October 27, 2011 | 6 p.m. | FREE | All Ages
@ Music Millennium, 3158 E Burnside St.

Born one of fourteen creative siblings in Lexington, Kentucky, Paula Sinclair is a sultry crooner with a country soul and a rock-n-roll heart. A multi-faceted performer, Paula sings her own tunes and sets poems to original music. Paula is also renowned for her kick-ass cover songs ranging from the great Steve Earle to Joni Mitchell to Emmylou Harris.

Frank Gutch, Jr. of Folk and Music Exchange nailed it when he said of Paula, “She knows things. Deep things. Dark things.” Fearlessly vulnerable, Paula always shares what she knows with audience members, creating a deep-rooted intimacy through her songs the moment she steps on stage.

SteadyGirl was Paula’s break-through album. This cd includes Paula’s anthem “SteadyGirl” and other original tunes, along with songs co-written with fellow songwriter Rob Barteletti. It also showcases Paula’s rockin’ cover of Steve Earle’s “Fearless Heart”.

Paula has always admired Joni Mitchell for her unique artistry and her determination to stay true to her creative vision. Recently, Paula challenged herself to tackle Joni’s “open” or non-standard guitar tunings and intricate picking style. Hard at work mastering these great works alongside pianist Aaron Andrade, Paula recently premiered a set of Joni tunes when she opened for John Doe at Dante's. She will also perform these songs at her in-store appearance at Music Millennium. Then, on November 9th, Paula will celebrate Joni’s 68th birthday alongside other performers in a Joni Mitchell Tribute at the Alberta Rose Theatre.
