BIKES FOR HUMANITY PDX (B4HPDX) will hold a Bicycle Donation and Adoption Drive from 10AM to 5PM on Saturday, October 20, and Sunday, October 21, at Barnes Elementary School, 13730 SW Walker Road, in Beaverton, OR, in the school’s gymnasium.

Bicycles available for adoption include road, mountain, commuter, cruiser, BMX and kid’s bikes. Adoption fees for these refurbished bikes range from $5 to over $400. Financial assistance is available to help a wide range of riders obtain a bike that will meet their financial and transportation needs.

The group will also be accepting donations of used bicycles. B4HPDX volunteer mechanics will be on hand to refurbish some of the donated bikes for same-day adoption. Charitable contribution receipts are available for all donations. Bikes for Humanity PDX is an all-volunteer, public charity project fiscally sponsored by ImpactNW, a 501(c)3 non-profit.

B4HPDX also offers free bicycle safety checks to anyone who stops by the event. Through a special partnership with the Northwest Bicycle Safety Council, attendees will also receive a free bicycle helmet inspection. Volunteers will adjust helmets and replace damaged or ill-fitting helmets with free new ones while supplies last.

This is the second year for Bikes for Humanity PDX to hold a Donation & Adoption Drive at Barnes Elementary School. Last year’s event helped over 30 riders and 11 children in the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program get safe, affordable bikes.
