Advertising is meant to tell us what to buy, but it often ends up telling us who we're supposed to be. How does digital image manipulation interfere with these messages? How do manipulated, photoshopped, and airbrushed images skew our understanding of body image? Why do advertisers use digital image manipulation? Join Bitch Media and a panel of interdisciplinary scholars and members of the advertising industry as we explore these issues.
The Naked Truth is presented by Bitch Media as a part of the Mad World virtual symposium, a project that aims to generate discussion about how advertising informs our identities and ideas about gender by providing opportunities for dialogue and education on these topics through intergenerational community forums, interactive blogs, podcasts, reading groups and articles in Bitch.
