DIGITIAL PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP: DOWNTOWN AND THE PORTLAND FARMER'S MARKET
Join advertising and editorial photographer Tom Hassler for an exciting day exploring the vibrant Portland Farmer's Market and the amazing range of architectural detail in the South Park Blocks area. They'll begin at the market (near Portland State University) where there are many opportunities for rich color photography, macro work, abstraction and street photography of people. We'll look at how lens selection affects composition and perspective, how understanding apertures can help you create dramatic focus effects and how color relationships influence the viewer's eye.
Next they'll spend some time exploring the wide variety of interesting architecture in the area. From pre-1900 churches and office buildings to modern steel and glass towers, urban Portland offers a unique variety of photographic challenges. We'll study seeing on a broad scale, juxtaposing the old and the new, zeroing in on details, and shooting the historical elements that make this neighborhood so interesting. Bring short, long, zoom and macro lenses for maximum flexibility!
Students are encouraged to bring laptops and card readers. Late in the day they'll gather at a local coffee house to review the day's shooting. They'll download and optimize images, critique our work and compare notes. There will also be time for socializing and a bit of relaxation after a busy day.
The class is limited to 10 participants so everyone will have plenty of one-on-one time with Tom during the shoot and critique. The workshop is sponsored by Digital Photo Academy and Lensbaby, a lens that allows for the manipulations of the focus and depth of field. If you would like to learn more about the many workshops that Digital Photo Academy hold in Portland throughout the year, or to register for this exciting workshop, please call our toll-free line at 1.877.372.2231 or log on to www.DigitalPhotoAcademy.com and click on Portland from the list of cities on the home page.
