2013 OPsFest: Free Shakespeare Performances in Portland Parks | Schedule: Comedie of Errors, Macbeth & More

Original Practice Shakespeare in the Park Fest 2013

Original Practice Shakespeare Fest is dedicated to bringing a new style of Shakespearean performance to Portland, and the surrounding area, by reviving the old. Their actors perform using the same performance techniques as they did in Shakespeare’s own time, which means limited rehearsal; an onstage prompter; fast-paced, energetic acting; and lots of audience interaction!

Original Practice Shakespeare Festival Presents Comedie of Errors, Macbeth and five other Shakespearian plays

About the season:
Now in its fifth season, the Original Practice Shakespeare Festival (OPS Fest), a non-profit theatre company, introduces two new Shakespeare plays to its repertory: Comedie of Errors and Macbeth.

Comedie of Errors ups the usual Shakespearean ante by having not one but two sets of identical twins, which means twice the mistaken identity, twice the goofiness, twice the romance, and twice the puns.

In contrast, Macbeth, one of Shakespeare’s more terrifying tragedies, portrays a dark tale of fate, ambition, witches, murder, and guilt.

June 21st marks their third Annual “Midsummer Midsommer” performance of A Midsommer Nights Dreame on a Midsummer night, at the top of Council Crest Park. This raunchy late-night performance is not suitable for children, and this year will feature reverse-gender casting.

OPS Fest will also present their 3rd annual Laurelhurst Shakespeare Festival from July 17th-21st in Laurelhurst Park, where they perform all seven of their plays in only five days.
