Free Screenings in ELF
All Ages | 7 p.m. & 9 p.m.
More info: cstpdx.com

In an effort to do some good in our neighborhood during the dark days of winter, the Division Clinton Business Association has started a campaign to light up the exteriors of our places of business and to fund various local nonprofits.

To kick-off this season of giving, we’ve got two FREE screenings of ELF.

That night and throughout the month, we’ll be accepting donations to The Children’s Book Bank. Why?

Books Open Minds

The Children’s Book Bank fills homes and lives with engaging, culturally diverse books because all children deserve to have books of their own. When they do, magical things happen — books ignite curiosity, spark the imagination, and open young minds to limitless possibilities.

Abundance vs. Scarcity

In low-income neighborhoods, the ratio of books to children is one book for every 300 children. Middle-income neighborhoods average 13 age-appropriate books per child.*

Diverse Books Matter

All children should have the opportunity to see themselves and their limitless possibilities reflected in the stories they read. “When children see themselves and their experiences reflected in books, they are being sent a message that their story matters and that they matter.” – Christian Robinson, children’s book author and illustrator

NOTE: THE 9PM SCREENING WILL HAVE SUBTITLES.

ELF
For his sophomore stab at directing, actor/writer/director Jon Favreau (Swingers, Made), took on this holiday comedy starring Saturday Night Live-alum Will Ferrell. Ferrell stars as Buddy, a regular-sized man who was raised as an elf by Santa Claus (Edward Asner). When the news is finally broken to Buddy that he’s not a real elf, he decides to head back to his place of birth, New York City, in search of his biological family. Elf also stars James Caan, Mary Steenburgen, Zooey Deschanel, and Bob Newhart. ~ Matthew Tobey, Rovi

Elf is a Christmas comedy that’s as sweet-natured and goofily amusing as its title character. — John Hazelton, Screen International
