“And remember folks, be good to your parents, they’ve been good to you”. High Anxiety is one of Mel Brooks’ most underrated films, often overlooked when compared to Young Frankenstein and Blazing Saddles. For Hitchcock fans, this film is a delight as a parody dedication to his most notable films. This comedy follows a psychologist, Richard H. Thorndyke (Mel Brooks), the new director of the Psychoneurotic Institute for the Very, Very Nervous. Thorndyke’s new position becomes a little more complicated when he’s framed for murder. In order to prove his innocence, he must overcome his greatest fear of heights. The non-stop gags, cocktail lounge musical number and Hitchcock references make this film a hilarious ride from start to finish.

About 5th Avenue Cinema

Our goals are to provide further education for PSU students interested in film, as well as a fun place for people to see something they wouldn’t ordinarily get to see on the big screen.
