PYP concludes its landmark 95th season with the powerfully moving Symphony No. 1 by the multi-talented Russian-American composer Lera Auerbach, followed by PYP alumnus Max Blair as oboe soloist in Bohuslav Martinů’s beautiful Oboe Concerto. The performance will end on a joyful note with the Overture to La Belle Hélène by Jacques Offenbach, a celebratory parody of Helen’s elopement with Paris of Troy, which sparked the Trojan War.

Hearing is believing. Discover for yourself why the Chicago Tribune called the orchestra “brilliant in all departments!”

I tried to go to the Oboe Concert on Tuesday, after harrowing news the last few days. But I got the location wrong— after a harrowing previous evening and days finding out about Poway, CA, synagogue murder and shooting at the end of Passover, then finding out there was a stabbing near my very own neighborhood the Very next morning after having attended a vigil for Poway. And then that afternoon after hearing about the stabbing, I’d had a long day at the dentist across town. The stabbing also made the Noon News while trying to eat lunch before going to the dentist. When I found out I was at the wrong location for the concert, it was too late to turn around and get to the correct one. It was a long day. But, the sun was still out and I went home and made Pizza; and I think the dentist visit went well, they are nice people there, and the Vigil it was a Gathering of Light, Prayer and Peace for Poway and EVERYBODY!.
I would very much still like to be able to still go see and hear this concert. I think I need some soothing and fun music, this would be great to go to. And I really want to go :) Thanks.
