Performing to critical acclaim celebrating their 20th anniversary year in 2017 and over 2600 shows, Dark Star Orchestra continues the Grateful Dead concert experience. Their shows are built off the Dead’s extensive catalog and the talent of these seven fine musicians. On any given night, the band will perform a show based on a set list from the Grateful Dead’s 30 years of extensive touring or use their catalog to program a unique set list for the show. This allows fans both young and old to share in the experience. By recreating set lists from the past, and by developing their own sets of Dead songs, Dark Star Orchestra offers a continually evolving artistic outlet within this musical canon. Honoring both the band and the fans, Dark Star Orchestra’s members seek out the unique style and sound of each era while simultaneously offering their own informed improvisations.

Dark Star Orchestra offers much more than the sound of the Grateful Dead, they truly encapsulate the energy and the experience. It’s about a sense of familiarity. It’s about a feeling that grabs listeners and takes over. It’s about that contagious energy… in short, it’s about the complete experience and consistent quality show that the fan receives when attending a Dark Star Orchestra show.

Dark Star Orchestra has performed throughout the entire United States, plus Europe & the Caribbean touching down in seven different countries. DSO continues to grow its fan base by playing at larger venues for two and even three night stands as well as performing at major music festivals including Bonnaroo, Milwaukee’s SummerFest, The Peach Music Festival, All Good Festival, Gathering of the Vibes, Mountain Jam, and many more.

I Hope you pick us!! I’m Tired of Being a Grown up! I have soo many great memories from high school in the 70’s with this music. Hearing it live again could be just what I need to Mellow my anxiety & bring back the “Fun Carefree Me”!!! This show could be the 1st step to a reincarnation of myself before the stress of Real Life. I would Love to Share the experience with my boyfriend Eric.

You know, I would really love to win these tickets, but I really resonate with Karen’s response. Pick her!! It is so real. But seriously, I haven’t heard enough of this music lately, and I am really missing my dog, who was named after a Grateful Dead song, so if you don’t pick Karen, please pick me!! Thank you for the chance!!

So, ‘Casey Jones, Jack Straw, Bertha, Peggy-Jo, Tennessee Jed, Stella Blue, a Brown Eyed Woman and The Other One’, who had an ‘Empty Box of Rain’, were all seen ‘Truckin’ from the ‘Fire on he Mountain’ passing ‘Franklin’s Tower’ and a ‘Broke Down Palace’ that were both encircled with a ‘Touch of Grey’. They ran across a ‘Black Muddy River’ onto a field of ‘Scarlet Begonias’ and ‘Sugar Magnolia’ blowing in the ‘Morning Dew’. They were headed to see Jerry Garcia ‘Playing in the Band’. ‘An Estimated Prophet’, who was a ‘Friend of the Devil’, stopped them and said, ‘He’s Gone’, ‘Sugaree’. ‘He’s Standing on the Moon’.

Love the Dead. My first Dead. concert was the 5/8/77 Barton Hall concert at Cornell. I was attending Eisenhower College in Seneca Falls. My 20th birthday was on 5/7/1977, Matt Burns, a true Deadhead, my roommate, and the whole dorm suite bought tickets and we trucked on down to Ithaca to celebrate my birthday.

Awesome time. Nicolette Larson and New Riders of the Purple Sage sang on the slope. The other “B Suite Boys” took me out to dinner, gave me a hit of Orange Sunshine and we finished a lid.

What’s funny? My favourite song, Fire on the Mountain, is the only song I remember from the concert. I also attended the Bob Dylan series.

Now, I am a retired TPDisabled Vet, psychologist, and Sr. RX Counselor. Would love to experience that Joy again…well, minus the Orange Sunshine…lol.

    Thank you for your consideration.

My first Grateful Dead Concert was in Oregon at the Oregon Country Fair in 1979. People were dancing naked. It was nuts.
I was in my late teens then. In College, didn’t know what to expect. The Oregon Country Fair isn’t exactly a nude venue but it was back then. I promise to not take off my clothes at the Roseland for this show, but I can dance and enjoy the wonderful music. My husband and I would love to go and he will stay clothed as well! Pick us, we are the friendly couple.
