Three decades after the inception of X, one thing is clear: X was not only one of the most influential bands to crash out of the punk movement of the late ‘ 70s, but the band’ s music continues to be sonically groundbreaking today. Songs written during the group’ s inception are as relevant and inventive today as they were in 1977.

The fact is, no one sounds like X and no one ever will.

It’s not surprising when you consider the group’ s unique beginnings, which can only be attributed to fate. On the same day with nearly the exact same wording, two want-ads appear in a local music rag. One was sent in by a guitarist named Billy Zoom, the other by bassist who called himself John Doe.

Zoom, a rockabilly rebel who’ d performed with Gene Vincent, had read a negative review of a band called the Ramones. It said they only played three chords and they played ‘ em too fast. So naturally, he went to see them. The show was at the Golden West Ballroom in the L.A. suburb of Norwalk in early ‘ 77, and as soon as the Ramones started to perform, Zoom realized that, musically, he’ d found exactly what he wanted to do with his life.

Elettrodomestico (featuring Jane Wiedlin of The Go-Go’s)

Elettrodomestico is a 2 piece band made up of songwriters Jane Wiedlin and Pietro Straccia.

Formed in 2016, the band released their first album, IF YOU’RE A BOY OR A GIRL, in October 2017.

Jane Wiedlin is best known as guitarist/songwriter of the eighties all-female band The Go-Go’s. Pietro Straccia is a multi-instrumentalist/songwriter who grew up in Detroit and Italy (epiqe, is4i, apside).

Their elettro/psyche/pop sound has been compared to bands Metric, The Mamas & The Papas, Abba, Garbage, The Flaming Lips, The XX, Phantogram

X are Punk Rock legends and to see them live would be a real treat. I have been a fan since I heard “White Girl” on KBOO back in 1981 and what a bonus to see another legend Jane Wiedlin of the freakin’ Go Go’s. Sure hope I win these tickets.

Ok. You just schooled me on the fact that Jane Wiedlin has another musical venture. Thank you!

In the interest of musical trivia; did you know that she and Terry Hall (lead singer of The Specials) co-wrote “Our Lips Are Sealed” (regarding their quiet relationship at the time)?

Fun Boy Three (also a Terry Hall related group) did a version of “Our Lips Are Sealed”.

So, with that… I’d love tickets to this show. I’m obviously an old fart who doesn’t get out much (hence all the nearly useless music trivia) and to finally see X live would check off a bucket list item!

I’ve been listening to Elettrodomestico since first hearing about this show. I’d be interesting to see how they translate to a live setting.

As their #1 Fan(in my mind lol), I see them every year here in Seattle. What an amazing chance to road trip and bond with my buddies while on a journey to see the Greatest American Band in Portland the night before we see them here. Legends in their own rights. Each and everyone of them has a great story to hear whether it told by music or from the heart! WIN OR NOT! I’m still going to see them!
