This November, 23 of the most accomplished floral designers and teams from throughout the Pacific Northwest go head-to-head and design-to-design, in the fifth annual Ninth Moon Floral Design Showcase.
Held in the pavilions of Lan Su Chinese Garden November 2-4, 2018, this highly anticipated design competition tests the creative imaginations of these amazing artists as they create stunning displays – all of which feature the chrysanthemum, one of China’s most culturally significant flowers.
In addition to the 23 floral artworks on display, the Ninth Moon Floral Design Showcase includes the world premiere of Asian Allure: A Compilation of Inspirational Creations from Prominent Asian Designers, a new book from Wildflower Media and Florists’ Review Magazine. Floral art demonstrations by the book’s featured artists — Jeanne Ha AIFD, Greg Lum AIFD EMC, and Lily Chan AIFD EMC will be open to the public on Saturday, November 3 and Sunday, November 4 at 1 p.m. The artists will additionally offer a demonstration during the Ninth Moon Floral Design Showcase Premiere Evening.
Lan Su Chinese Garden and Portland’s Floral Design Institute are hosting this three-day exhibition and showcase as part of Lan Su’s annual Mumvember celebration. Mumvember is a month-long series of events tied to the chrysanthemum, featuring more than 800 chrysanthemum displays throughout Lan Su and a series of talks from plant experts.
Ninth Moon Floral Design Showcase Premiere Evening – Friday, Nov. 2, 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Attendees of the Ninth Moon Floral Design Showcase Premiere Evening have the opportunity to be among the first to view these fabulous floral exhibits, see a live floral design demonstration from the three featured artists, listen to live music, sip sparkling wine, enjoy decadent appetizers and desserts, and meet all of the participating floral designers at this magical evening.
Tickets: $65 general, $55 Lan Su members, at www.lansugarden.org/ninthmoonevening
