It’s Happy Hour – at the zoo! Having cocktails at the zoo isn’t just fun, it helps raise awareness and support for the zoo’s mission of creating a better future for wildlife.
Ticket includes zoo admission and a drink ticket, plus live entertainment, lawn games, photo ops and fun animal sightings. Some of the area’s favorite local food carts will be there, along with great Oregon beer and wine.
Visitors who are 21+ can enjoy a zoo experience with dates, friends or family at an adults-only event.
Local food carts such as CS Fishery, tastebud, Pok Pok, Verde Cocina, Ruby Jewel, Pip’s, Zeds and Ben & Jerry’s will be at the event, along with local beer, wine and signature snacks and cocktails. And of course the zoo’s own Elephant Ears cart will be open, selling delicious puffy pastries.
Each happy hour will feature a different animal theme and August 8 will focus on elephants and tonight’s event will surely involve an elephant pool party and other animal encounters.
Tickets are $24.95 per person, $19.95 for Oregon Zoo members. For an additional $20, guests can take the Elephant Catwalk Tour($20, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.): Guests will get a tour of the Forest Hall catwalk and participate in giving enrichment to the elephants.
VIP ticket option: The Elephant Bath Experience ($300, 5 p.m.): VIPs will participate in the elephants’ bathtime! Part of providing great welfare to our elephant family is strengthening our relationships with them so that we can take care of them when they need us most. Guests will get up close to an elephant and be part of that bonding time by helping our dedicated keeper staff scrub or hose an elephant while learning what it takes to provide great care for these amazing animals. VIP tickets also include early admission starting at 3:30, reserved parking, a behind-the-scenes encounter, a buffet, free beer and wine until6 p.m., and a drink ticket for after 6 p.m.
The Oregon Zoo encourages all guests to take public transport to the zoo, which is located five minutes from downtown Portland, and is accessible by MAX Light Rail line. Visit Explore Washington Park for transportation and parking information.
