Born and raised in Portland, OR, Rukaiyah Adams is the Chief Investment Officer at Meyer Memorial Trust. She is responsible for leading all investment activities to ensure the long-term financial strength of the organization. Under her leadership, Meyer invests in a diversified portfolio of global equities, fixed income, private equities, real estate, commodities and hedge funds. Before joining Meyer, she ran the $6.5 Billion capital markets fund at The Standard.

Rukaiyah is also the Chair of the Oregon Investment Council, the board that manages approximately $90 Billion for the State of Oregon and PERS. She also serves on the board of directors of Oregon Public Broadcasting.

Her pro bono work has included negotiating on behalf of the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights, the Homeless Prenatal Project in San Francisco and the National Childrens Defense Fund. She has recently completed a TedX talk The Homegirls guide to being powerful about her path to becoming a conscious investor and the role of wealth in social justice.

Portland is her hometown. She learned to read at King school, learned to communicate at Harriet Tubman Middle School and learned to embrace her shine playing in the Walnut Park neighborhood in Northeast Portland.

    This I a a great example of something that I saw “free tickets” and then read and realized this was going to be a very interesting event. Someone in Portland I have not met and was not aware of that is a powerhouse.
